When creating Installations, I tend to start without having any preconceived
ideas and allow myself to fall inside the different textures and smell. As my
journey unfolds I begin to see connecting strands binding each object. I believe
the most important aspect in the creative process is the process itself.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I first became interested in installation art within my first year of studies after a
visit to Stepney Bank Stables, this was the venue chosen for our first year
exhibition. It was during this time I began to observe the surroundings in
which my work was to be displayed. I became aware of hidden meanings
and strengths with almost every detail in the surrounding area. Therefore I
started to collecting found objects and relevant information in and around the
Ouseburn valley.

Found objects- Wood, rope, metal, glass, pottery and straw.
After absorbing the gathered research and the many
found objects, I began to create my first installation; this in
turn changed my whole outlook on my artistic
background. It was through my working at the stables
combined with my background reading I discovered that
to understand installations you first have to absorb the
surroundings; I feel that this can have an impact upon
how people view installation art inside or outside the
gallery space.

This journey of exploration has increased my pursuit of
learning more, since then I have created several
installations and have discovered a new challenging
direction in my journey of artistic expression.
Taking the ship I created I felt I was on an artistic expedition
with this in mind I created an installation that represented a
cabin full of found objects and plant life.
